Zilker Packaging Design – 2017
Zilker is a home irrigation system that uses real-time data and connected smart faucets for more effective and environmentally friendly watering. We helped Zilker design their direct sales and retail packaging.
For the packaging of eco-friendly products, we used recycled cardboard and minimized print colors to reduce environmental impact and highlight the product’s sustainability. This approach, rooted in an eco-conscious design philosophy, reduces waste and uses recyclable materials, subtly communicating a commitment to the environment. By minimizing colors, we also maintain a clean, simple design that reinforces the brand’s identity and consistency.
For retail packaging, a new approach was required. On a store shelf, the product needed to stand out while clearly showcasing its key features. Several graphics were created to introduce and explain the Zilker system. These visuals provide a relatable and intuitive explanation of a complex technological product ecosystem.
The short GIF animation was created to help users quickly understand how the Zilker system works. It uses a simple and engaging cartoon style to provide a friendly and effective explanation. This approach was chosen to communicate the system more effectively and clearly on the web, compared to the diagrams on the packaging.
