The Holy Communion – 2011

The Holy Communion for the Post-Human has moved beyond images, creating new meanings and raising questions derived from ideas such as the theories of evolution or creation. This concept envisions holy communions for Christians in the future who may evolve into fish. Some may call this sacrilegious. However, I want to clarify that such a notion arises entirely from a misunderstanding. What I intend to convey is not about ‘God’s love’ but rather about ‘our love for God.’

I designed a new type of holy communion for underwater use. On Europa, the current coin-shaped communion would easily tear due to its thinness, making it impractical. Inspired by spherical fish feed, the new polygonal design minimizes wasted space while remaining functional.
