Hybridization
: Experimental Collaboration work - 2010
The collaboration with artist Lee Seung-Hyun, known for his work on ‘monster’ designs, involved exchanging and blending images created by both artists. The process began with dripping paint onto a long strip of paper, followed by searching for shapes resembling monsters. Once images were identified, the monster shapes were drawn inside a confinement device inspired by the shape of each figure. This device then became the starting point for the creation of new monsters, which in turn served as inspiration for the next iteration. The process continued for two weeks, providing fresh creative momentum throughout.

The design of the monster confinement devices was inspired by the spontaneous splashes of red ink on paper, which created an organic and unpredictable pattern. This randomness merged with the monster drawings of the collaborating artist, leading to the creation of shapes that were both strange and captivating. By intertwining these elements, the devices came to embody the essence of controlled chaos, blending the raw energy of the ink with the artistic visions of the monsters. The result was a series of uniquely structured forms that felt as if they were born from a fusion of creativity and chance.
